Interesting collection of narratives... Recording is good but we need to be good listeners, which is tough. Very much like a mosaic... watch how you spell that word.
Each character has a distinct voice and "back story." We have to be good detectives and figure out how what experiences have influenced each character.
Free write: what experience have you had with a garden or even a community garden?

dt on it all
she corrected him on her name; she said chay only had 2 comadres, her and some other married friend with 3 kids. dee said there are too many tortas and women with problems. and fat of course.dee asked how she is one. babysitting anyone? what is the competition between the two? why arguing over x and y?

age matters...
I can't remember much about my 20s, since I was becoming educated and working and finding what I wanted to do. Then my 30s. I simply don't remember much. conclusion?
I feel I missed out of a lot of life, which I refuse to leave behind. So I will reclaim those lost years. I still feel young and inspired and will therefore have them.
more later, dt.

origins...
Then there is Jowls... a nickname of course for the man who is becoming more alcoholic with each day, and his jowls drip and dip with each new pint of ale. Each day he starts to drink earlier and earlier.
Dad, can you please part my sandwich?
Yes, and can you please cut my fart?
But back to the woman. I merely asked, in the fashion of dt, if anyone had a comadre for me. Not one who was left at the altar 30 years ago and has never left her house since. It was a joke. I was not serious. Then you asked dt if he had found someone or not. he said of course not and went into detail about the lack of femininity of some such wench.
she responded with we don't know many people; we don't have comadres...
Not even at church?
Maybe she had an ulterior motive which at the time I failed to understand. it is another fantasy, but blame dt.

dee tremens lost in the big picture...
chili, tomate, cebilla, mete la pata en la olla....so dee thought that there must be some deeper meaning involved. It holds some great significance like... canabalism, that's it!!!

dt tomorrow..
let's watch and see how dt works tomorrow. he has a great memory and the toughest liver in the world, but how will he treat the chacha? will he make her interested or just scare her away?
thus i digress...
i think and therefore i digress. that is my maxim. not i think therefore i am. i digress therefore i am.for how could i be if i digress? digression is the philosophy of those who have their own --not necessarily so rational answer.
take tristam shandy for example. uncle toby never answers the question. he is always talking about his own life and copulation instead of how tristam can about.
there you have it--all.

why i make my fantasies public--they are not true
you know dee tremens, not demens, the linebacker for my beloved michigan team, dee tremens, dt. the one who drinks too much every night and celebrates the act of living one more day.
He has not been in his right mind of late--dt, falling in love? that is crazy. he is the one who can speak all languages without problem. he has probably fallen in love with love or with himself again... just to avoid being alone.
he has been pining for the four seasons, michigan in particular, despite the winter deep freeze. he is still not enjoying the desert summer..which goes on for 6 months.
the young woman is just a fantasy to make him feel more alive, although he is almost always alone, the mind of the obsessed and addicted world, but he is eternal, his orange tabby is not, but that is his only companion, no sancho no sancha.
he tries to return to medieval iberia but cannot.thus califas. so forget the previous post: just more talk from dt and it is just that--pura verba.

some new fantasy or obsession...
she speaks to me as if i know her, when i should remember the things she said but i do not... she watched me with intense interest as i ate the most american of apple pie with ice cream... then a week later, something happened to me... i started to think about her, not a little but a lot and i don't know why... i pray to the virgin mary every night and day and maybe this has something to do with it,since i think joseph was much older than mary.
i am going crazy and i do know why. i wait for her to regresar la llamada but it has not happened. while she has my number, i guess she does not have courage. what did her sister mean by saying her sister? what does that mean? i did not notice her but i do now.

some new characters, new life...
sancho versus falstaff, joles, the woman in the polka dotted dress, that I now call bien pientata la changa... it is a mystery, with characters such as the nude painter, or painter of nudes, a detective who can only see details but not the big picture... and then there is dee tremens, our unreliable narrator, who is more drunk than real... enter sancho and falstaff, and ralph and fred... the plain folk speak as well. and then the widowmaker... married just to kill her husband.
dee will make sure it all ends on a happier note, but just a digression and some other confusing note...

Eco, Pamuk, Ruiz zafon...
I am awaiting the november publication date of eco's new book... while of course it has already been published in Italian and Spanish--years ago. This year, eco should earn the nobel prize, and he has over and over. the name of the rose was good enough; it is a body of work. one ofthe greatest novels of all time.
Pamuk won it and his latest novel was about incest, same as Ruiz zafon, incest. And eco is 79, and well deserving of the prize while he is still alive. There is still time for Ruiz. As for Pamuk, over the hill for now.

How to make a hormone
How do you make a whore moan? Don't pay her. Sorry, an Irish priest told me that joke. Rather his students at a jesuit school, probably joyce's old school, said just this.

Court, child abuse, and missing more work
Another reason I have to miss work is to go to court concerning my daughter. Interesting that most of the dates are on a Thursday, which is the day off for my ex, but not me. So another reason is court. Judge says to bring it all back if she does not follow the rules. So I bring it back; pay the fees. Then we are assigned to go back to mediation when this is an issue for the judge, not the mediator, since he said to bring it back if necessary. So another day is lost and more rubber stamps of someone else's bad behavior. I pay the fees and miss work. Double loss. And the kid? Nothing changes... and I miss more work.
Having children means you cannot work
Having even one child in the 21st century means you cannot have a career. I feel sick; I can't go to school; I'm depressed; I got suspended. I didn't do my homework and the teacher will kill me. I got a citation; you have to meet with the counselor, teacher, principal, lunch lady, etc. You can't drop off your child until 830 am even if you have to be at work at 8 am. Find a nanny to help you. You can't bring your kids to work because the insurance does not cover them and last time your daughter hit her nose on the desk, remember?
My job and career are not important any more. Whether I have an advance degree or my students, it does not matter.

Nostalgia for Califas...
Once upon a time, before the whore of Babylon came to Califas, the province had it all: oceans, lakes, rivers, deserts, and mountains. There was the pastoral economy of grapes, olives, garlic, nuts, and fruits of all types. When she came, it was like turning off the spigot. There was even water, before the whore got her infected lips and sucked the territory dry. Then the water had to be filled with bleach to cleanse it. The locust and grasshopper and every other Biblical plague came and the trees wilted. Unemployment became very high at 20% or more. People turned against each other, all lining the corners to beg and compete for small change.
